Mission of the School Counseling Program: The mission of the Greenway Park Elementary School Counseling Program is to ensure all students access core instructional opportunities and insightful experiences to be able to achieve success by bringing together the perspectives of all stakeholders to build trust and contribute to a student-centered school community that celebrates student growth and models the perseverance needed to achieve academic, career, and social-emotional goals.

Vision of the School Counseling Program: Students of Greenway Park are using their unique talents, skills, and passions to pursue opportunities that fulfill their sense of curiosity, creativity, and achievement; they are prepared to thrive in diverse and collaborative environments where they own their path to the future as productive, accomplished, and hopeful members of local and global communities.

We believe:

  • Each student can learn and experience success
  • All students must have access, opportunities, and experiences grounded in high-quality education and instruction
  • As students graduate high school they should be prepared and knowledgeable about postsecondary pathways
  • School counselors and comprehensive school counseling programs are vital components of educational opportunity and experiences
  • School counselors must be collaborative in order to be effective because students live at the intersection of many systems, groups, and identities
  • School counselors should be leaders who share knowledge, perspectives, and insight where decisions are made at the school, district, state, and national level
  • The comprehensive school counseling program supports and encourage student development of academic, career, and social/emotional skills and knowledge.
  • School counselors must have self-awareness of their values, beliefs, and biases that are impacted by their individual backgrounds and society’s assumptions because these impact relationships, expectations, and overall effectiveness
