About Me

"Every child needs at least one adult who is irrationally crazy about him or her." - Urie Bronfenbrenner

Hello everyone! Ciao! Hola! “Hello” in all the beautiful languages we are so fortunate to have here at SCMS and in our marvelous world.

My name is Giada Pozzo (A.K.A. Mrs. G.) and I am so excited to teach 7th grade social studies and science at SCMS this year!

I am originally from Italy. I was born and raised in the beautiful, medieval town of Treviso, located 15 miles (ca. 24 kilometers) from Venice.

I have a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a minor in Writing and concentrations in Sociology and Culture and Society from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in social studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

This is my first year at SCMS. However, in the past, I have worked as an art teacher and as a substitute teacher in private and public schools.

In my free time, I love to watch cooking shows and classic movies. When I am not reading a good book, I love to paint portraits, learn Japanese Kanji, and make art out of fondant icing.

As a teacher, I embrace diversity and authenticity. I believe there is a unique treasure in each one of us; a treasure that must be nurtured, valued, and celebrated.

Fun Facts

I was a member of the Italian national fencing team in high school and college. A few years ago, I was invited to participate in the Food Network show called Cake Wars. I have watched the movie Pride and Prejudice at least ten times. I have read the book Jane Eyre at least four times. I can read and write in three languages: English, Italian, and Spanish.

I am excited to work with you and get to know each one of you better. We will have a marvelous year filled with creativity, inspiring topics, delightful activities, kindness, and respect.

See you soon!

Mrs. G.
