NC Governor Page Program - CTE Cluster: Government & Public Administration, Law:
Governor Roy Cooper encourages young people in North Carolina to get involved in public and community service through the Governor’s Page Program.
https://governor.nc.gov/governors-page-program
Established in 1973, the Governor’s Page Program gives high school students from all over North Carolina the opportunity to come to Raleigh for a week of hands-on participation in their state government. The goal of the Page Program is to represent North Carolina’s diverse communities and help inspire a new generation of leaders.
The program is designed to help students grow in four key areas:
Civics. Pages will see first-hand the three different branches of government and how they work together to serve the people of North Carolina.
History. Pages will learn about our shared history so that we can better understand the present.
Service. Pages will learn more about the importance of community and civil service, and the impact it has on our state.
Professional Development. Pages will develop skills needed for entering higher education or the workforce.
Criteria
Each applicant must be a North Carolina high school student in good academic standing between the ages of sixteen and eighteen years old. Pages are selected to serve for a term of four days. All Pages must abide by a Code of Conduct throughout their time in the program. Pages also are eligible to receive 25 hours’ community service.
This is a free 7 week summer program. Participants will get a stipend and lunch every day.

Our FREE 7-week Summer Immersion Program teaches 10th–11th grade students (rising juniors or seniors) the computer science skills they need to make an impact in their community while preparing for a career in tech. In the Summer Immersion Program, girls will learn about:
CAREERS
— They’ll meet inspiring female role models in the field and get an inside look at the tech world through guest speakers, workshops, fun field trips and more! Their summer will be spent in classrooms hosted at the world’s top companies, like Twitter, Amazon, AT&T, Warner Brothers, and Microsoft.
SKILLS AND IMPACT — They’ll learn to code through hands on real-world projects in art and storytelling, robotics, video games, websites, apps, and more. By the end of the summer, they’ll also create a final project that solves a real-world problem they care about -- combining their new coding skills with their passions to change the world!
SISTERHOOD — As essential members of our Girls Who Code sisterhood, they’ll learn in a supportive, all-female environment and make lifelong friendships that encourage them to be brave, take risks, and stand up for what matters to them!
Students do not need to be associated with a Girls Who Code Club, and in fact, no prior experience in computer science is necessary to apply. In addition to providing a free program, Girls Who Code provides students with free lunch every day. Summer stipends to cover transportation and living costs.
Applications for summer will open in early January.
The early deadline is February 15 and the application closes on March 15.
