Students are responsible for the general care of technology devices and the accessories that have been issued by CMS. Here are some guidelines for caring for mobile devices:

Avoid holding devices by the screen or carrying the device with the screen open.
Keep food and drinks away from the device. Damages caused by spills may result in charges for repairs.
All devices are assigned a unique serial number and barcode for the device. Students will not tamper with the barcode without consequence.
Students should not mark or alter the device with stickers or writing, etc. This is considered vandalism and is prohibited.
Shut down your device daily for general system maintenance.

To receive a device, students and parents/guardians are required to sign the CMS Student Technology Agreement Form. The fee structure is found in the chart below. Students and parents/guardians are responsible for the cost of repairing devices that have been damaged, lost, or stolen while in their possession.Â

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education believes that participation in the 1:1 device program promotes positive benefits for students and families and does not want to place any undue burdens on parents/guardians who cannot afford to pay the associated fee for loss or damage.
