EMERGENCY AND SHORT TERM HOUSING
Charlotte Emergency Housing (Plaza Place): Short-term accommodation (60 days) for working families with children. Contact Homeless Assistance Services or your social worker to request a referral.
Youth Network Crisis Shelter: Refuge for homeless youth and fugitives between 7 and 17 years old. 1100 East Blvd., 704-377-0602.
Battered Women's Shelter: Women and children in situations of domestic violence. Apply through United Family Services, 704-332-2513. Website - http://www.unitedfamilyservices.com/battered.htm
Center of Hope (Salvation Army) Shelter: Provides temporary emergency shelter for women and children. There is also limited space for shelters for parents with children and teenagers. 534 Spratt St., 704-348-2560. Apply in person. Long-term transitional housing may also be available.
Uptown Shelter: Men (18 and older) only. 1210 N. Tryon St. 704-334-3187. Apply in person.
Emergency Winter Shelter: Open from October 1 to April 30 only - Men only; 3410 Statesville Ave. Open at 6 p.m. at 6 am.
Room In The Inn: Open from December 1 to March 31 only: churches and universities provide shelter for the homeless in their gym, sanctuary or fellowship room. Organized through the Urban Ministry, 945 N. College St. - 704-347-0278. Register at the Urban Ministry at 4:30 every day. Transportation, dinner and breakfast are provided in places of refuge.
American Red Cross: Assistance with housing in cases of verifiable disasters, mainly fires or floods. 704-376-1661
TRANSITORY HOUSING
Women in Transition Program: For single women (no children), 18 years of age and older, with a regular source of income. Residents must be able to pay the weekly rent plus the program fees during the first two weeks. The services offered include affordable housing, case management, resource library and health services. NOTE: This is not an emergency shelter. The program does not accept children. Call to schedule an interview to submit an application: 704-522-8510.
Jackson Park Ministries: For women with children or married couples with children. Contact them at 704-392-4981 to apply.
Samaritan House: Provides temporary housing for homeless people who are being released from a hospital. It must be derived by the

Community Link - 601 E. 5th St Suite 220, 704-943-9490. Manages the Family Resettlement and Traveler Assistance program for newcomers, who are residents of the county in less than 90 days. Traveler's Aid can help with half of a bus fare for a stranded traveler who needs to return home or for someone fleeing domestic violence.
Homeless Support Services - Contact Megan Coffey at 704-926-0617, 945 N College St. (Center for Urban Ministries) regarding an assessment of Support Services for the Homeless. This program is an entry portal to the network of services for the homeless in Charlotte. Basic eligibility: you must be homeless or at great risk of becoming homeless. Ms. Coffey is usually available to see deliveries from 8:30 to 1:30 every day as well.
Center for Urban Ministries - Old Train Station, 945 N. College St, 704-347-0278, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily. Provides assistance with lunch, counseling, mail services, laundry, showers, restrooms and other services from 8:30 a.m. at 4:30 p.m.

Hope Haven; 704-377-3085; Single homeless adults with or without children (preference to women) who have completed the primary treatment of substance abuse in the last year.
Oxford House: Pensions for those in recovery from substance abuse. Residents must pay their rent on time, avoid the use of alcohol or drugs and refrain from disruptive behavior. Eligibility: Men must be homeless, disabled, have a regular source of income of at least $ 500 per month, pass a background check (there are no felonies in the last 3 years) and be able to live independently. Davidson Housing Coalition: Development of housing for owners and rental; Education and counseling for home buyers; Rental advice; Defense of affordable housing. Eligibility: Property of the home: the applicant must earn a maximum of 80 percent of the average income; Rental housing: 50 percent of the average income. Individual Development Account: An individual development account is a restricted savings account based on assets that matches the deposits made by the holders of qualified accounts so that they can acquire a long-term asset, such as a home.
