The Family Life Curriculum was developed during the 2022-23 school year in compliance with TN State Law and TN Standards and updated based on feedback for the 2025-2026 school year. The curriculum was created by a committee of Health and Wellness teachers, community professionals, and CMCSS parents. The curriculum will be presented by teachers for students who are currently enrolled in middle school Physical Education/Health and high school Wellness courses. The Family Life Curriculum meets the required Tennessee State Standards for Health and Wellness and Tennessee State Law.
This website will allow parents or legal guardians to examine the instructional materials in relation to the Family Life Curriculum. Additionally, families can select to opt out of the curriculum if they decide that it is not appropriate for their students. The opt-out form will be sent via electronic communication from CMCSS.
We encourage you to review the curriculum using the buttons at the bottom of this webpage. If you decide it is not appropriate for your student, you will have the option to opt-out.
The Family Life Curriculum will be taught by physical education and health instructors. All teachers will be trained on the curriculum in October 2025. The training will comply with provisions required under T.C.A. 49-6-3004. Family Life law can be found in Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) 49-6-1304.
