The school has insurance with IMG (International Medical Group). On arrival you will be enrolled by the HR department
How to use IMG Health and Vision Insurance

2. Deductible
- The deductible for individuals and is $250 per person.
- Deductible per family and 2 person party is $500
- Deductibles are per calendar year, not school calendar year
3. Claims
- Claims may be presented by mail or by fax.
-Please make copies of all claims you turn in and keep a file of statements of benefits for your paid claims
If you have turned in a letter of creditable coverage from your previous carrier you will not be subject to limits on pre-existing conditions. This is a letter stating your name, the dates you were covered and the name of the carrier.
Outside the United States
Make an appointment with any physician of your choice (if you need help or references, please see HR Coordinator or our school doctor)
Pay for the services and request an invoice (factura) in your name or your dependents name.
Mail, email or fax in claim form and expect reimbursement or application to deductible within four weeks.
Check booklet for procedures and tests that require preauthorization. You can get pre authorization online a www.imglobal.com and clicking on Current Clients and Initiate Pre certification.
In the United States
Search for a provider on the IMG website (www.imglobal.com) by clicking on Current Clients.
If you do not use an IMG provider you will be required to file a claim and you will only be reimbursed 80% after a $200 deductible.
Present your card when you arrive and pay $10.
You do not need to file claim forms or pay anything else.
Preauthorization for surgery or tests must be requested by the doctor.
Hospitalization
In Guatemala you should use Sanatorio Nuestra Señora del Pilar (tel. 2420-0000, Colonia Tecun Uman, Zone 15). For hospitalization claims over $250 there is a direct billing agreement. In order to begin the direct billing process please contact Jennifer immediately. During office hours, please ask to speak to Brenda Barco in Billing. This does NOT include emergency room services, lab tests or outpatient procedures.
If your claim is under $250, for emergency room or outpatient procedures or if you use another hospital, you will need to proceed as described above for filing claims.
For any type of inpatient or programmed outpatient care you will need preauthorization. If you are able, you can obtain preauthorization via the IMG website or by calling the number on the back of your card. If not, please contact or have some contact the HR Coordinator for you.
For hospital care in the US you will need to have preauthorization, which your doctor will usually obtain for you. Make sure you check the website to verify the participating hospitals in your area.
Pharmacy
Prescription medications are covered. Please pay and submit the receipts and prescription along with your claim. Over the counter medications are NOT covered.
eDoc America
This service gives you the ability to email health questions and concerns directly to an MD who is certified to answer their questions and provide advice. You aren’t charged for the advice, and there’s no limit on the service or number of contacts you may make
School Doctor
Colegio Maya has a school doctor, Dr. Andres Arango. He is on campus weekday during school hours and you may visit her when she isn’t with students. He can refer you to specialists as needed.
Limits on Vision Coverage
1. Eyeglasses (lenses and frames) and contact lenses up to $150 every 24 months.
2. Eye examinations up to $100 every 24 months.
Please note that eye examination, lenses contacts or frames area available after 12 months of continuous coverage
Life Insurance
Foundation teachers are provided with a life insurance policy equal to one year’s salary. You are required to fill out an enrollment form and indicate your beneficiaries. This form will be kept on file in the Foundation office.
DENTAL CARE
How to use dental insurance at Centro Dental
Your dental insurance is provided by Dr. Julio Montenegro. He is located in Edificio Multimedica, Blvd. Vista Hermosa 25-19 Vista Hermosa I on the 8th floor. For appointments call 5691-4001. You will receive 3 vouchers per person, 5 vouchers per couple or 7 vouchers per family. Dr. Montenegro has the vouchers at the clinic.
Under our plan they will cover all diagnostics and X-rays, and cleanings as well as fillings and extractions. For other services they will provide you with a price list and payment plan. A list has been sent to the Dental office of teachers and family members. If you have specific questions, please see the HR Coordinator.
