A fourth-year medical student at The Ohio State University, Lynette Gonzalez, has a commitment and appreciation for diversity, volunteering and mentoring. In 2010, Lynette graduated from the University of California, Berkeley where she earned a BA in Psychology. While an undergraduate, she served as the Co-Chair of Chicanos in Health Education, where she helped plan health fairs and increased resources to the uninsured population in the East Bay. After graduation, she worked at UCSF, where she contributed to clinical research within the OBGYN and Pediatrics Department. She completed a post baccalaureate program called MedPath at The Ohio State University and enrolled into medical school the following year. As a medical student, she has volunteered at La Clinica Latina, a student run clinic that provides health services for uninsured patients. She also served as Co-Chair for MD Camp, a program for first generation high school students who desire to pursue a career in medicine. Lynette was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society Class of 2022, an honor society composed of medical students, residents and faculty who practice patient-centered care by modeling the qualities of integrity, excellence, compassion, altruism, respect, and empathy. Lynette is currently applying to residency in OBGYN where she hopes to support the healthcare needs of women as they transverse every milestone of their lives.
