Carlos A. Mejia is a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, where he represents state agencies responsible for environmental protection and affordable housing in all stages of litigation. His key cases have included defense of the California Coastal Commission in protecting public beach access in San Mateo County, prosecuting housing contractors for misappropriating state funds intended to benefit farm workers, and prosecuting those responsible for environmental destruction near Mono Lake. Carlos previously served as Staff Counsel at the State Water Resources Control Board, where he helped craft California’s first regulations requiring urban water conservation. Carlos is a graduate of Dartmouth College, the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs. He is also a proud CLYLP alumnus and was student president of his class.
