The TABE test is an entry exam that will help us determine what level you are on in Reading, Math and Writing. It takes 3-4 hours and is used as a "baseline" for the class. It shows us what skills you have coming into class and which skills you need to work on. All students are required to take the TABE upon entry into Adult Ed.
The class is free of charge.
Yes. There are free practice HiSET tests on the HiSET website. However, at our campus we also have practice HiSET tests you can take any time. All you need to do is schedule a practice test, and we will be happy to help you.
Students must be 16. Any student who is under 19 will need an age waiver from the School Board in order to attend classes. Without this age waiver, you cannot attend if you are under 19. You will also need a picture ID, an intake packet, and a TABE test.
The HiSET test costs $26.75 for the first subject and $16.75 for each additional subject. All 5 subject tests will cost $93.75 whether they are taken all at once or individually. Retests cost $6.
No. You can take it one subject at a time. However, if you fail one of the subject tests, you must wait 30 calendar days to retest in that subject.
You only have to retest in the subjects you fail. You need a score of 8 in any one subject to pass that subject. However, you must have a total of 45 from all 5 subjects, and you must have at least a 2 on the essay portion of the test.
Your diploma will be mailed to you at the address you have listed on your HiSET account. Be sure you keep this up to date. If you misplace your diploma or need another copy, you can apply for one HERE.
