Welcome to First Grade! Room 1 is one of the most exciting places to be on the Valley Oak campus. It is a place where thinking, learning, and wondering takes place ALL of the time! Although this year will begin in our Online Learning Environment, we will continue to build a community of learners that help and care for each other while practicing a growth mindset. We will solve problems, create masterpieces, publish poems and stories, investigate, experiment, and inquire! All of these things help us grow and learn!

Resources

Students will login to Clever with their student username and password. You will have access to many online learning resources through Clever. Our Zoom link can be found on Dr. McGough's Page at the top of your Clever page. Some of the tools we will be using this quarter are listed below.

Zoom

We will use Zoom to meet as a whole class and small groups. We will have three instructional blocks each day. Please see our Daily Schedule on the Assignments page to see times for instructional blocks.

See Saw: We will use See Saw to organize student work. Students will learn how to take photos of their work and upload them to See Saw. I will be able to see and comment on your work. I will also post assignments and stories on See Saw. This is a wonderful interactive tool for teachers, students, and families!

IXL: IXL supports our curriculum and helps students excel in different skills based individual levels.

Epic: Epic offers books to read. Sometimes I will assign books for you to read based on the reading level.

Google Suite: We can access and create Google documents, slide show presentations, and Google Classroom.

iReady: We will use iReady for Math assessments, instruction, and practice.
