Buchanan High School Choral Department

Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Matthew Haltom, the new choral director at Buchanan High School. I am originally from south Arkansas, did my undergraduate studies in Music Education at Ouachita Baptist University and completed my Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Missouri. I am in my 13^th year of teaching choral music at the secondary level, I have a great passion for music education and performance, and I am thrilled to share that joy with all of you.

I have some exciting music planned for the ensembles this year that will stretch their knowledge and abilities as musicians. I will be asking for the students’ full involvement within every rehearsal, and I hope to have the parents’ active participation as well. My goal is to provide the BHS singers with an outstanding experience in choral music and memories to last a lifetime.
