Graduate Profile
Our graduate profile describes the skills, knowledge, and attitudes students will gain by the end of year eight. It has been designed in consultation with students, staff, the community and Ngati Kuia. The goals are grouped to align with Te Whare Mātauranga.
Tinana -I live a healthy, balanced life. I look after my body and respect other people’s bodies. I care for the land (whenua) and the environment because they help keep me well.
Hinengaro - I believe in myself and know I can succeed. I know who I am (ko wai au) and where I come from (no hea au). I take on challenges and can manage my feelings. I keep learning te reo Māori and Māori customs (tikanga). I know when and where to ask for help.
Whānau - I treat people with kindness and fairness. I connect with people from all cultures, and value Māori as tangata whenua of Aotearoa. I help and take part in my communities. I follow the promises of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I know and share the history and stories of our local area (rohe). I understand there are many ways to be a leader
Punenga - I work hard and keep going when things are tough. I’m curious and open to new ideas, including Māori knowledge (mātauranga Māori). I ask questions to help me learn. I make plans to reach my goals. I’m ready for the future.
Wairua - I know who I am and how I belong, including my connection to the land, people, and stories of Aotearoa. I speak up for what’s important to me. I act in ways that help my communities.
Te Taiao - I enjoy and value spending time in nature. I know the history of my local area and understand what it provides. I am a kaitiaki — I look after the environment for the future.
