For nightly homework, I would like students to read for at least 20-30 minutes each night. This can be a book from home, the school library, or you can find some online options by clicking on the reading button, below.
Students should be practicing their math skills each evening for at least 10 minutes, whether that is worksheet homework provided by me, suggested IXL outcomes and/or practicing basic multiplication skills. See below for specific homework assignments throughout the year. Additionally, starred IXL outcomes are those recommended by me!
Math Homework due Monday, May 11
Please work on IXL if you have finished the worksheets.
The standard algorithm, or the compressed vertical method, is the last of the strategies students have learned. They have successfully demonstrated an understanding of how to multply 2-digits by 2-digits concretely using Base 10s, pictorially by using Area Models, and symbolically using Distributive Property, Vertical Method and now the standard algorithm. Students can choose the method they like the best, but ideally, they master the standard algorithm for future grades.
