The class of 2024 attended the senior sunrise July 28th, 2023 at the Horizon Football Field, to celebrate the tradition of the start of their last year of high school.
Many students arrived at school at 5:30 a.m. to get a spot in the field with their friends. Sunrise took place at 6:15 a.m. and all seniors cheered as they counted down the beginning of their senior year.
“It was nice seeing everyone spend time together. My friends and I, just being together for our last moments. I have been waiting for it, I remember being a sophomore just looking at the seniors and them going to all the senior activities and I was jealous and now that I'm a senior it’s a fun experience,” senior Ana Castillo said.
This year’s class sponsors Grecia Picazo and Ana Arreola decided to take on the task of planning different activities for seniors. This is not their first time as sponsors, Mrs. Picazo took the role four years ago to see the class of 2024 graduate.
“It was very nice, we had way more activities than last year and loved that more faculty and staff showed up,” Picazo said.
Seniors enjoyed donuts and coffee before the sunrise, and their senior photo was taken in front of the field house along with a powerful message by Principal Roberto Trejo.
“I could just feel that the senior class has a lot of energy and a lot of passion and the class of 2024 is gonna rise up to the challenges that I placed on you which is 100% graduation rate," Trejo said.
The Class of 2024 has over 315 students who started their high school freshman year online due to the pandemic. Overpassing the challenge of transitioning online to face-to-face classes, and finally reaching their last year ready to #RepTheH.
