Voting information
Anyone who was registered to vote with a Clifton address by March 30 can participate in the April 20 bond referendum to make the schools safer, more efficient, and more modern. Voting will be possible by mail and in-person.
Mail-in ballot APPLICATIONS must be received by the county by Tuesday, April 13.
Mail-in BALLOTS must be postmarked or hand-delivered by Tuesday, April 20; see directions on your ballot.
POLLS will be open 1:30 to 8 p.m. at six locations on Tuesday, April 20; find your polling place here.
Ask for a PROVISIONAL BALLOT if you are turned away at the polls; see below.
RESULTS will be posted on this website's home page when they are known.
Voting Details
If you’re not sure if you are registered, or what address is associated with your registration, find out by entering basic information at this State of New Jersey website. The registration deadline was March 30.
In 2020, all active voters were automatically sent Vote By Mail ballots. That is not planned this year. Only voters who previously checked a box requesting to always receive a mail-ballot were sent them in early April.
In-person polls will be open 1:30 to 8 p.m. at six locations: School 5, School 9, School 12, Christopher Columbus, Woodrow Wilson, and Clifton High School. Find your polling place here, or call the Passaic County Board of Elections at 973-881-4528.
Don't give up your vote!
If you are turned away at your voting place for any reason, ask for a “provisional ballot.” Those ballots are sorted through after polls close, when questions can be answered and paperwork can be closely examined. The provisional ballot is a safety net against errors that would wrongly restrict a person from voting.
