There are a number of items you can connect to your device: headphones, printers, mice, keyboards and monitors just to name a few. Below you will find helpful tips on how to connect the most common devices.
USB devices plug into the USB port — any USB port. Fortunately, the USB cable has unique ends; attempting to force the USB in upside-down could cause damage.
Connecting devices such as a Camera, phone, mouse or keyboard could require additional drivers to install before the device is fully functional.
There are many types of USB connections, the most common are USB A and B, but USB C is becoming increasingly popular.
Either right-click the Bluetooth icon in the notification area or go to the Control Panel to find the Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers page.
When the device appears in the list of Bluetooth and other devices, select it to connect/pair
You may need to refer to the accessories manual for how to place it in discovery mode.
Follow the onscreen instructions to finish connecting.
To check if your accessory is connected, look under "Devices" in your settings.
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Bluetooth.
If Bluetooth is off, turn on Bluetooth.
Select the accessory you want to connect to.
You may need to refer to the accessories manual for how to place it in discovery mode.
Follow the onscreen instructions to finish connecting.
To check if your accessory is connected, look under "Paired devices."
Much like USB connections, there are several display connections as well. The most common are HDMI and VGA. It is very important that you check both the display and the device to ensure you have the proper connectors.
Connect a display to your device using the proper cables.
Press Windows Key+P to choose how you would like your screens to display.
Duplicate: This duplicates your desktop on both screens
Extend: This stretches Windows to fit across both screens.
Laptops and Chromebooks have a number of connection types. Some of the connections you may see or use on your device include:
RJ-45 – Commonly called Ethernet/Internet cord
3.5mm – Speaker or headphones
SD Card – This is for reading SD cards of a specific size
Power – Each model has a specific port for charging and power.
