District Individual Events 2023
---> If at all possible, please look over the schedule and let me know if there are any conflicts with students or schools you should not judge. We tried to make sure that you're free of any conflicts based on what was provided already, but double-check for us, please? If you should find an issue, kindly email us at myoung@clearlakeschools.org and mgallagher@clearlakeschools.org.
---> Judges Meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 am in the Judge's Lounge. There will be breakfast provided. Doors will open at 6:30 am for those who want to arrive early and get settled in. During the meeting, judges will be required to take and submit the judge tests as well as their blue cards. You may begin filling this out as soon as you arrive.
---> During the breaks, runners will come to collect the ballots. During this time, please feel free to get up, stretch, and use the restrooms.
---> Lunch will be provided in the Judge's Lounge.
---> At the end of the day, following all performances, you will need to bring your last official ballot and any other materials used during the day to the main office. You will give these items to a designated representative and receive your check.
Schedule/Results
***Coaches, please note that Morgan and I spent several hours pouring over the schedule and trying to make it the best we can for every school. If there is an issue, please email both of us at myoung@clearlakeschools.org and mgallagher@clearlakeschools.org and let us know. We hope you are all excited and we look forward to having everyone in our school!
The results will be added to the schedule on Contest Day. These will be updated as often as possible.
Information for Coaches
Everyone must enter through the front entrance of the high school. All other doors will be locked.
Bus parking will be in the far, southwest parking lot to allow the front parking spaces for spectators.
The main office will serve as the headquarters and check-in. This will open at 7 am to start answering all of your questions. Coaches, please make sure to check in for your school when you arrive, and bring any drops and/or substitutes to the office.
The gym will serve as the team headquarters for all students and coaches. There will be a coaches lounge available, however, we encourage you to be out watching performances and supervising your students. Ratings will be posted on the TVs in the cafeteria as well as on this website. There will be no practice rooms available (with the exception of musical theatre). You may use the gym and commons areas to rehearse ahead of time, but please be aware of the noise levels. The musical theatre center will have a practice room near the performance space available to warm up in. Please be conscientious of others and use it just before your scheduled time.
All contest centers will begin promptly at 8am unless otherwise listed on the schedule. They should conclude around 4 pm. If centers run ahead of schedule, we will stay ahead of schedule. Please arrive at your center ready to go at or before your scheduled time to avoid creating any holdups. Remind parents and visitors wishing to watch that centers may run ahead of schedule. Be sure to notify any spectators of your school codes as these will NOT be given out to anyone. We will NOT be providing a WI-FI password for the day. Please plan accordingly for your presentations.
Programs and maps will be available at the audience entrance. One will be provided to each school's coach when they check-in. Programs (with maps) will be available for $2.00 for visitors, and a "required door donation" of $3.00 will be asked of all spectators.
There will be concessions available throughout the day. This will be located outside of the gym on the south side. Please remind your team and your visitors to eat here as we are using this as a fundraiser. There will be hot dogs, pizza, nachos, popcorn, soda and drinks, candy and suckers as well as baked goods. We ask that you keep all concession items in the cafeteria unless beverages have a closeable lid. Please be respectful of our school and dispose of garbage and bottles appropriately.
If there are problems or mistakes with the schedule, please email the contest manager, Megan Young, at myoung@clearlakeschools.org, as soon as you can. I will try my best to work out the problems. All special requests must be sent to Stacy at the state office and relayed to me or they will not be approved. Please remember to bring ballots for each entry. Copies of ballots will be available for $1.00 in the main office if you lose one, forget one, or need an extra.
Judges will be giving written comments only, there will be no oral comments. Throughout the day, coaches should be with their students enjoying performances, and most importantly, supervising them. Please help us to keep them quiet in the hallways. Also, impress upon your students that this is not a party. If a device is causing too much noise throughout the day, the item will be confiscated and held in the office until contest day is over. Misbehavior will not be tolerated. Follow all directions given by Contest Workers. Please be respectful of our facilities, keep them clean and tidy so we can continue to host this and future contests. Remember that we are all part of the IHSSA family and the reputation that precedes you!
Weather information will be released on KIMT-3 news channel 3 and Star106 on 106.1 FM radio station. I will do my best to email and reach out to you as well. If weather becomes an issue I will make the decision no later than 5 am for those traveling, and if at all possible, the night before. Please make sure to contact me if weather and transportation become an issue so we can work you in later in the morning or afternoon.
Once all ratings have been posted, then coaches may come to the main office to check out. We will NOT allow you to pick up comment sheets until all ratings have been posted. If you must leave before ratings are posted, please leave a self-addressed and heavily stamped envelope with the office staff. Your ballots will be mailed the following business day. We are not allowed to scan and email ballots.
