My name is Octavia Ferguson-Chenault and I am so blessed to join the Church Street Elementary family as one of the two school counselors this year. While I am new to Church Street Elementary, I am not new to working with students in Clayton County. I’ve worked in Clayton County Public Schools in various capacities for over 11 years and during this time, my primary desire has always been to be an advocate for each and every student that I am fortunate enough to work with.
As a school counselor, I am not only passionate about providing academic, emotional, and social support for students in and outside of school but also passionate about building relationships with stakeholders, parents, teachers, faculty, and staff as our primary priority must be the future of our children.
On a personal note, I am married and a mother of two children, a thirteen year old daughter and a ten year old son. Also, I earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Morris Brown College, a Master’s of Science degree in School Guidance and Counseling PK-12th grade from Nova Southeastern University, a teacher certification in Elementary/Special Education General Curriculum from Mercer University as well as a Gifted Endorsement through Clayton County Public Schools.
Through all of my professional endeavors, my most important thoughts that I live by are:
“Don’t do unto to others what you don’t want others to do unto you”
“I am expected to give what I expect my own children to receive which is the very best therefore, I will give my very best”!
Please feel free to call me, or stop in so that we can meet face to face. I can be reached by using the contact information above.
I’m so blessed to be at Church Street Elementary School and I can’t wait to make new memories this year.
