Mrs. Shaffer is a registered nurse with 46 years of nursing experience, including experience in emergency medicine. She has a nursing degree from the College of St. Teresa and obtained a master’s in nursing administration from Ohio State University. She also has a School Nurse Professional Pupil Services license through the Ohio Department of Education. Additionally, Mrs. Shaffer has four Clay alumni children and is a valued and committed member of the Clay community.

The Clay Local School District has the services of a registered nurse from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday and is available to consult with parents about the health needs of their child. She also works with the guidance counselor, teachers, and principals in suspected cases of child or chemical abuse. She does not diagnose illnesses or prescribe medication. She does not care for injuries, which are not school-related.
