November 2022

A Message From the Principal

Mickle Families,

November marks the month when the weather starts to get colder and the days become shorter. For many, this is a favorite time of year. The second quarter also comes with additional time off from school with Thanksgiving and winter breaks. As a staff, we will work towards providing consistency for students during this time of change. If any of these changes present specific challenges for your student or family, please reach out to us and let us know. We may be able to be of assistance in securing a winter coat or providing other services. As always, we look to partner with our families to provide the best for our students. Within this edition of the monthly newsletter, you will find information from various departments and programs throughout Mickle Middle School. We hope this information is helpful.

My best,

Jason Shanahan,

Principal

Counseling Center

Mickle will be celebrating World Kindness Day on Friday, November 11, 2022. Students will have the opportunity to participate in different activities surrounding kindness here at school. We'd love to have families participate at home too! If you do any fun activities to celebrate Kindness Day let us know so we can share them on our social media. Thanks and remember to always Be Kind!

Attention 8th Grade Families;

Please review High School Focus Program Open House information here: https://home.lps.org/focus

Here is a short video explaining more about where to find information about Focus Programs: https://www.wevideo.com/view/2841001296

Also, be on the lookout for an email from LPS in December with High School Open House information. Each high school will host an Open House on a different night in January.

Each student is assigned to a high school based on their address. You can find the high school for your address by going to the LPS website – www.lps.org – and clicking on Home School Lookup under Essentials. If you want your child to attend a high school other than the home high school assigned to your address, you will find a Choice Form in that December email. You can fill out that Choice Form and submit it to the Mickle Counseling Center/Registrar. Again, that information will come via email in December.

We are here to support students and collaborate with families. If there is something we can do to assist, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
