The Knights kicked off the season on a strong note with the Girls Team going out to the Grizzly Invite at Standing Bear and bringing home 2 Gold Medals, while the Boys stayed home and defeated Gretna 62-15.
At Standing Bear, the girls started off strong with 7 girls bringing home a top 4 finish. Maia Ruben brought home a gold medal at 130 pounds. Ruben defeated Kallie Salem Rodas in the finals. Raye Aldag also brought home gold at 155. Kenzie Frederick brought home Silver at 105, while Isabella DeBonis brought home bronze at 135. Koko Solomon (115) and Campbell Colborn (120) both brought home a 4th place finish as well.
The boys defeated Gretna 62-15. #4 Joseph Schaffer started the dual with a fall over #9(B) Peters. Cole Schroder, Hudson Krogh, Henry Witte, Elijah Nasur, Rob Rojas, and David Melo also got Falls for the Knights. Darrek Andrew and Caden Vancleave finished the matches with technical falls.
Everybody went to Kearney for the Kearney High Invite on Saturday. Joseph Schaffer finished in 3rd place at 165 pounds with a 17-15 win over returning state medalist and #3 Hunstman of North Platte. Darrek Andrew, Rob Rojas and Hudson Krogh all came home with a 4th place finish. Marley Holzer went 4-1, finishing in 5th, with his lone loss a 0-1 match with #2 Nachtigal of Kearney. David Melo also finished with 5th place.
On the girls side, Raye Aldag finished in second place at 145, while Lili Huegel finished in 4th at 125. Campbell Colborn ended in 5th as well.
We brought home 8 gold medals on the JV side. Our JV Champions were Elijah Nasur, Ezra O'Donnell, Alex Silsbee, Tsjomme Liebgott-Osinga, Henry Lewis-Ahrendt, Isaiah Copeland, Tony Beltran and Reagan Armstrong.
The Ladies will be heading to Aurora on Thursday, while Freshman boys compete at our home invite. JV Boys will be competing at the Lincoln Northeast Invite on Friday, and Boys and Girls Varsity will finish the week at Omaha South on Saturday.
