A note from the Principal

Irving Students and Families,

In order to keep the lines of communication from school to home connected, I plan to send out a weekly newsletter every Monday through the duration of the district school closure.

Included in this newsletter will be information from me, as well as a summary of information presented from the district. Additionally, there will be sections from each grade level group of teachers, elective teachers and others. Since today is the first week of this newsletter, there will be very little information from staff in these sections. Please look for increased communication in each section as the weeks continue. It is my hope that this weekly communication will provide the latest information to you all without overloading your inboxes with information on a daily basis.

Students and parents will be contacted by teachers on an individual basis throughout the week as needed.

I wanted to share with students that they are missed. Our staff have been working very hard to establish a remote learning plan that will allow us to reconnect and for teaching and learning to once again take place. Over the next two weeks students have access to review material from the third quarter. This is not required work, and it will not be turned in or graded. During this two week time span, teachers are reaching out to students who had a failing grade in their class at the end of third quarter. These students are being presented with a plan they can follow to improve their grade for the third quarter. The next two weeks is an ideal time for this to occur.

I want to assure everyone that the staff of Irving is still here to support you. We understand the frustration and stress that has come along with this unique and unprecedented situation.

Reach out to us through email or our website and let us know how we can assist. We may not have the answer to your questions at the time, but we will certainly work to find it for you.

Finally, I know that the fourth quarter is filled with various activities and milestones that make for special memories for our students, families and staff alike. While I cannot change that this is occurring, I wanted you to know that we do understand the disappointment in these events and occasions needing to be postponed or cancelled.

The Irving Community is strong and connected. We will get through this together.

Thanks and be well,

Jason Shanahan, Irving Principal
