Research Interest.

William Annan, an applied mathematician, delves into the realms of mathematical modeling, fluid mechanics, and numerical analysis. His research journey encompasses diverse projects, including a recent Ph.D. endeavor centered on utilizing mathematical models to explore the propagation of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and its impact on the dynamics of rod outer segment renewal.

In addition to his doctoral research, William's role as a research assistant involves employing a vertex modeling framework to investigate the dynamics of filopodia interaction in the pattern formation of sensory precursor cells (SOP) on the thorax of drosophila notum (fruit flies).

To hone his numerical and computational prowess, William engages in scrutinizing the performance of numerical schemes like exponential time differencing, Imex-BDF2, Runge-Kutta, and Backward Euler. He evaluates their efficacy in conjunction with the finite element method for solving partial differential equations.

Prior to commencing his Ph.D. journey at Clarkson University, William pursued his master's dissertation at the University of Ghana, focusing on the impact of atmospheric pressure on the flow of natural gas in a pipeline, with the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) serving as a case study. This investigation aimed to determine the pressure drop for gas in a pipeline laid on an inclined plane, facilitating the installation of compressors at optimal distances to maintain gas pressure within an acceptable range.

During his undergraduate studies, William's research trajectory centered on computational physics, where he formulated thermodynamic laws using differential forms
