Advisement
What is Advisement?
Based on the Georgia Teachers-As-Advisors Framework representing a series of collaborative efforts between the Georgia Department of Education and Georgia educators Grades 6-12.
Goals of the program are to:
- erase student anonymity
- provide students with increased opportunities for career exploration
- lead students to make more informed choices
- increase student graduation rates
- and increase postsecondary enrollment rates in your district
Each meeting time includes:
Advisement Lesson (includes state mandated activities)
Academic Work Time -Remediation Opportunities via Academic Support Locator
Enrichment/Team Building Activity
When does it meet?
Weekly on Wednesdays right after 1st Block.
Advisement Includes:
Announcements/Upcoming Events
Advisement lesson linked to a monthly theme
Subjects for themes include life skill based lessons with connections to IB and post high school needs
State-mandated Health Survey
Checking school email during each session.
Checking Student Portal during each session.
Checking “Academic Support Locator” as needed.*
Completing “Weekly Performance and Reflection”.
