"Public Notices for the Special Education Office and PASA" are listed below...
The Special Education Main Office is located at the Clarion Elementary Building on 800 Boundary Street and oversees all students who are serviced with an IEP, 504 plan, or GIEP. We also work directly with both building principals and guidance counselors, along with the elementary MTSS Coordinator and the nurse in our child find efforts. Our team looks forward to working with parents, guardians, staff and students to help ensure all students meet their maximum potential. Listed below are several resources. Additionally, any required public notices can be located in the links below or towards the bottom of this page. Questions, concerns, and sharing of ideas is welcomed and encouraged. Please feel free to call, email, or stop in.

PASA PUBLIC NOTICE
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires Pennsylvania to ensure that the total number of students assessed in each subject using the Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment (PASA) does not exceed one percent of the total number of all students in the state assessed on the statewide assessments. Each local education agency (LEA) must complete and submit the PASA 1.0 % Threshold Justification to BSE if it anticipates that more than 1% of its students enrolled in grades 3 - 8 and 11 will be assessed using the PASA. A list of LEAs who anticipate exceeding the threshold will be made publically available on the PDE website, in accordance with 34 CFR 200.6 (c)(3) regulations. LEAs must also make the document publicly available upon request, removing any personally identifiable information. The Clarion Area School District anticipates exceeding the 1.0 percent threshold for PASA participation for the 2022-23 testing cycle. The necessary justification information has already been submitted to the Bureau of Special Education. Questions on the Clarion Area School District's participation rates should be directed to Mrs. Crystal Johnston @ 814-226-8118 x 745 or cjohnston@clarion-schools.com
