Course Overview
I am a teacher of English 1 Honors (8th grade) and English 2 CP and 2 Honors (9th grade) for this semester. These English courses focus on building reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, and analyzing literary elements of short stories, poetry, drama, and novels. Students will write for a variety of purposes, tasks and audiences. Essays will include narrative, expository, argumentative, creative, and reflective writings. Grammar will include the study of sentence patterns, sentence structure, usage, and mechanics.
English 2 students will sit their End of Course Examination towards the end of the semester.
Course Standards: Focus areas - inquiry, reading literary text, reading informational text, writing, and communication.
