Our Counseling Program's Vision
“Through participation in the school counseling program, ALL students from Silverdale Elementary will confidently see their value and show up in the world as themselves, knowing they belong. Students will learn the necessary skills to have compassion and kindness towards self and others. They will demonstrate strong character through resiliency, perseverance, and grit in academic, social, and lifelong environments.”
Hi there, my name is Katy Leet. This is my second year supporting students as a School Counselor. My role as a School Counselor has truly been rewarding. The last 15 years of my working experience has been immersed in learning how to support, advocate, and empower children, parents/caregivers, and families to be healthy and thriving. I believe that my experiences and education in mental health and family services have allowed me to listen, observe, and offer a non-judgmental space to identify challenges students and families face. My approach to school counseling is strengths based, meaning I aim to see and encourage students through what they are good at, what they enjoy, what works for them and building on their growth and success when faced with challenges. My hope is that every student sees their value and can show up in the world as themselves, knowing they belong.
