Before you Get Started
We are excited to provide meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for our CJCP students this summer! Please use this website as a resource for all of the summer assignments to help students prepare for the upcoming school year. Assignments must be completed for all of the following below. These assignments are due on the first day of the school year and will count towards a test grade in the corresponding course.

Why Summer assignments?
According to research, students can lose between 25-50% of knowledge in mathematical skills over the summer. Students can experience similar losses in reading fluency and comprehension skills as well. With this in mind, it's important to plan strategically how to continue to practice and engage student skills to support their learning goals that they met throughout the school year.
Things to keep in Mind
Have students complete a little each week. The goal of the assignments on this site are to offer continued opportunities for engaging learning throughout the summer. Completing them week by week keeps students engaged and helps keep their skills sharp. Finishing everything at once does not have the same impact.
There are lots of choices in the assignments, so work with your child on engaging their interests and preferences. When students enjoy the learning process, there is much more to gain!
Get a library card! Books are free and the community libraries offer many great resources for children.
Family engagement
Engage with your student while they are completing their assignments. Helping students with these assignments can support their learning and your understanding of where they are with their skill development.
Learning as a family helps everyone grow! Find ways in the community to model life-long learning to your child. There are plenty of museums, historic sites, and community places that have rich learning opportunities for students.
