caregiver Support program
The Pennsylvania Caregiver Support Program aims to reduce stress on primary, informal, unpaid caregivers. Providing care for another person can put stress on the caregiver, affecting their health, well-being, and relationships. The program provides coordinated support through an appointed care manager. Services may include caregiving assistance, education and counseling, and reimbursement for supplies used to provide care.
Requirements for the Grand parenting Program include:
Primary caregiver is identified as the person who provides the majority of care/supervision
Primary caregiver must be age 55 and above
Care receivers must be age 18 or younger and priority is given to those with disabilities
Primary caregiver and care receivers must reside in the same household
Primary caregiver and care receiver must be related by blood, marriage or adoption
Primary caregiver cannot be the parent
Primary caregiver can either have a legal relationship to the child (such as legal custody or guardianship) or is raising the child informally
If eligible, standard reimbursement is $200 per month per family.
