4 hours face to face training to meet NZQA requirements.

You must be physically able to complete each step of each scenario. Adult and child manikins MUST be used on the ground. Infant may be used on a table or elevated firm, flat surface.

This is an emergency procedure course that will equip you to provide basic life support to save lives. This course focuses specifically on the importance of resuscitation and how to follow the correct NZQA guidelines.

You will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence in the First Aid area.

- Calling 111
- Primary survey
- Secondary survey
- Care of unconscious patient

Infant CPR

- Playing out scenarios
- Identifying dangers/hazards
- Response
- Resuscitation procedure

Child CPR

- Playing out scenarios
- Identifying dangers/hazards
- Response
- Resuscitation procedure

Adults CPR

- Playing out scenarios
- Identifying dangers/hazards
- Response
- Resuscitation procedure

Defibrillation:

- Identifying when an AED is needed
- Procedural use of a defibrillator

Choking

Managing Adult/child/infant choking

In order to receive a certificate and/or the relevant unit standards, you are required to pass written, verbal and practical assessments which are conducted in English. If you are unable to do so you will be deemed not competent and will not receive a certificate or the unit standards available.
