K-5 Running Club Starts Up April 29th, 2025
Tuesday Mornings 8:10-8:30 and Thursdays at Lunch Recess
The Running Club will meet twice a week. Students may participate on one or both days. On Tuesday mornings, we will meet at 8:10 in the big gym before heading to the forest.
The number of kilometres run by each student will be tracked, and they can earn certificates for each milestone met.
Students should wear their P.E. strip, outdoor running shoes, and be dressed for the weather. Don’t forget your water bottle!
Parents, if you have a Criminal Record Check on file, you are invited to join us on Tuesday mornings to help with things such as signing students in and out, running with students, and keeping track of laps students run.
Please make sure you do a daily health check with your child each morning prior to sending him/her to school. If your child is not feeling well, please keep him/her at home. If your child is not feeling well during the school day, and exhibiting symptoms that can be associated with the flu or Covid they will be sent home. Let’s work together to keep each other healthy and safe.
Information Regarding Morning & End of Day Routine
-Students will come up the stairs and drop off their backpacks outside in our 3W line-up.
-They will then go to the playground to play or head to Breakfast Club.
-There will be no soccer play before 8:40 am.
-The outdoor play areas will be supervised until the bell rings at 8:40 am.
-When the bell rings, students will line up and wait for their teacher to greet them.
-When poor weather requires, students will come directly into our classroom following the routine we started in September.
-At the end of the day, parents will pick up students at the crosswalk.
-Parents will wait for students to come and meet you to avoid congestion on our stairs.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
First Wednesday of Every Month at 2:00pm
If your child is going to be away, it is very important that you phone the school and let the office know. The secretaries will pass the information on to me. You can also let me know via your child’s planner or email if that is more convenient for you. If your child will be away for a number of days, a request for catch up work can be made. You can also refer to the tabs at the top of this page. When your child is late, please have them check in the office prior to coming to class to ensure they become registered for the day.
Breakfast Club is an open-door club for any student who would like breakfast. We ask that students come straight to the Breakfast Club when they arrive at school, and then they can socialize outside until 8:40 am when the bell rings. Please send a healthy snack and lunch with your child.
Munch-a-Lunch Snack & Lunch Program
2) Click the “Register Here” button. The system will guide you through it.
3) Add your children, and ensure your teacher/division is correct.
4) Click the green “Order Lunch!” button to order
5) Next time, just click the “Login Here” button to access your account.
Please note if your child is ill on a lunch date, you are welcome to come and pick up their lunch by the end of the day. Consistent with previous years, there are NO REFUNDS due to a student being away on a hot lunch day, as this is a PSG fundraiser.
These are online book clubs where you can purchase books for your children. There is no obligation to purchase any books. If you are interested in seeing what is available, please go to Scholastic.ca for more information. Paper copies of the book club flyers will go home approximately once a month. Our class code (for ordering books) is RC223332
These books will be one of the ways we stay in contact with each other. Reminders for activities coming up, field trips to go on, homework assignments, etc. will be documented in these books by your child. Feel free to write things in the planner that you would like me to be aware of on the opposite page of where your child writes. Planners will be signed by me before they go home. Before they come back to school, they need to be signed by you so I know you have had a look at it. When you sign your child's planner, your child will receive a sticker in their book. It is very important for these to come back to school every day in their red duo-tang.
The grade 3 program involves lots of reading. Students are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn. Every evening your child reads or has someone read to them, please record it in their Home Reading Log. For every night of reading, your child will receive a sticker in their book. When your child reaches 100 nights of reading, he/she will get to pick a prize from our Home Reading Prize Box. More information on this program can be found at the front of their Home Reading Log. It is very important for these to come back to school every day in their red duo-tang.
We have Library visits scheduled for Thursday this year. Please ensure your child has a book bag at school for Library days. Both cloth and Ziplock bags are acceptable. We want to ensure the books are returned in good condition for the next student to enjoy. Students will be allowed to take out 2 books at a time to be returned the following week. Students are encouraged to choose 1book they can read independently and one that they can share read with you.
This is just a reminder that your child will need a set of computer headphones to use at school during our computer and iPad times.
PE Uniform for K-3 Students
-2 pairs of PE shoes are required. One for indoor PE and one for outdoor PE. The outdoor shoes can be runners they wear to school if that is easier and weather permitting.

-Grey gym shirt with school crest
-Navy track pants with no logos (optional)
Our PE days this year are Tuesday and Friday
*Grade 3 students will be changing into their PE strip at school*
Students of Queen of Angels Catholic School should be dressed in a manner that reflects pride in their school at all times. Neatness in dress and grooming will reflect this pride and set a tone of serious commitment to a learning environment. Parental cooperation is necessary to maintain a uniform dress code. It is the parents’ and student’s responsibility to ensure that the uniform regulations are followed. Uniforms will be worn to school, in school, and leaving school year-round. Please refer to the school website for further information.
Our school uniform store is open on Monday & Tuesday 2:30-3:30. No appointment is necessary. Payment for items can be in the form of cash, credit or debit. Alternatively, you may book an appointment by calling (250) 748-6397.
Don't Forget Your Water Bottle
Please make sure your child is coming to school with a reusable water bottle each day. We ask that you keep juice boxes, energy drinks and other sugary beverages at home to enjoy outside of school time. Thank you for helping us make this positve and healthy choice each day!
Garbage Free Classroom/Pack In & Pack Out
Children are encouraged to pack in and pack out. This means a litterless lunch and reusable water bottle for water only. We will be encouraging students to recycle and compost when they can.
Class Birthday Celebrations
Birthdays will be celebrated in our classroom with a blessing, song and special prayer. Students are given a birthday crown to wear for the day that they get to bring home. Please refrain from sending edible treats. Alternatives for a birthday treat is to donate a book to our classroom library, stickers, pencils, etc.
