Education or Ammunition?

The social issue I decided to focus on was Gun Control. Specifically, I focused on gun control regarding school shootings as that is a very dominant area of the concept. I was able to depict the choice of education over ammunition in my artwork and symbolized the true horror of gun violence in schools and everywhere.

Art helps increase awareness of issues and communicates to viewers. Social awareness can be done through art by making artworks, videos and songs about certain issues and then post them online or show them to others therefore raising awareness socially. Issues regarding race, gender, etc can be promoted through art. Informational videos or paintings regarding equality that are shown to the world can increase awareness of different social concepts. An artist that caught my eye was Killtaupe. He focuses on drawing bears and other animals in digital art and having them symbolize his personal experiences or social awareness issues like the BLM movement, LGBTQ rights, anti-maskers, etc. These issues have been put out into the world most recently which is why it is great that people are talking about it through art. The art style used by him is Japanese Pop Art and he also incorporates old cartoons into it. He uses animals to portray issues in the world or his own past experiences. One of the biggest social issues I would like to focus on is gun violence.
