Ricardo Prudêncio

Short Bio 

B. Sc. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Ceará (1999), M.Sc. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2002), Ph.D. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2004) and sabbatical leave at Bristol University (2014-2015). Professor at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco since 2004 (Departamento de Ciência da Informação from 2004 to 2008 and Centro de Informática since 2008). Research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, acting on the following subjects: meta-learning, transfer learning, algorithm design, classification, hybrid systems, link mining, text mining and recommender systems.

• Paper: Explaining Learning Performance with Local Performance Regions and Maximally Relevant Meta-Rules in the Runners Up session at BRACIS 2022.

• Paper "Evaluating regression algorithms at the instance level using item response theory", published in Knowledge-Based Systems, 2022.

• Paper "A two-level Item Response Theory model to evaluate speech synthesis and recognition", published in Speech Communication, 2022. 

• Full professor position (Professor Titular) at the UFPE, 2021.  

• Promotion as a PQ 1D researcher, by CNPq 2021. 

• Supervisor of PhD Student Chaina Oliveira, Item Response Theory to Evaluate Speech Synthesis and Recognition, Duolingo's Doctoral Awards Program 2020.
