Why RULER?

RULER is an approach to social and emotional learning that teaches the skills of emotional intelligence and includes everyone in the school community. RULER, is an evidence-based approach to teaching emotional intelligence, it provides an educational framework that encompasses a set of practices for comprehensive social emotional integration across a schools.

RULER includes four primary tools: the Charter, Mood Meter, Meta-Moment, and Blueprint. They all work together to help cultivate the skills of emotional intelligence.

Shared communication about how we want to feel. It is an agreement that a group makes together

A self and social awareness tool a that we can use to recognize, understand and label our own emotions

A process for extending the time between the experience of an intense emotion and how we respond to that emotion

Helps us problem solve conflicts and difficult situations with questions that prompt self reflection
