“I’ve given my life to Jesus? What’s next?”
Congratulations! We are so excited that you have made a decision to believe in Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior. As a new believer, your new, eternal life in Christ has begun (John 3:16), your sins have been forgiven (Ephesians 1:7), and you are now a part of God’s family - a child of God (1 John 3:1)!
At Christ Church, our first value is to Know God. When you believe in who Jesus is and what He has done, you enter into a relationship with God. But that is just the beginning! Here are some ways you can grow even deeper in your relationship with God:
Read the Bible - The Bible is God’s Word. It’s how He speaks to us. It tells us who God is, what He is like, and what He has done for us in Jesus. You can read the Bible by downloading YouVersion’s Bible App, find it online at Bible.com, or purchase a Bible from websites like Amazon. We recommend beginning your Bible reading with one of the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John - to grow in understanding of who Jesus is and what He did during His time on earth. You can also join the Christ Church community as we read through the Bible in a Year!
Spend time in prayer - Prayer is simply a conversation between you and God. Some people believe you need to say the right words to pray, but the truth is you don’t have to use fancy, religious language. You can just talk to God! God is your heavenly Father, and He is simply seeking connection with you.
You can thank God for the things He is doing in your life, ask Him to provide for your needs or pray for other believers. For ideas on how to pray, read our Prayer Guide (www.christpeople. church/21days) or stop by the Connection Center on Sunday morning to get additional prayer resources!
Get baptized - Baptism is an outward testimony of your decision to trust Jesus Christ for your salvation and to follow Him as a believer. Jesus Himself was baptized (Luke 3:21), and He calls His disciples to be baptized as well (Matthew 28:19)! Check out our Baptism page (www.christpeople. church/baptism) for more information on baptism and to watch recent baptism testimonies!
Build friendships with other Christians - God has created you to be in relationship with Himself and with others (Mark 12:30-31). He has given you brothers and sisters in Christ - the family of God - to love you, support you, and to help you grow!
At Christ Church, we gather the entire church family together on Sunday mornings, but then also gather together in smaller groups called Life Groups throughout the week for meaningful community with one another. For more information on the various Life Groups offered at Christ Church, head over to www.christpeople.church/lifegroups!
Grow in Freedom - Jesus died to give us freedom from the penalty and power of sin (Romans 6:10- 11, 23)! He came to give us abundant life in His kingdom (John 10:10). Through Him, we can live victorious lives to the Glory of God!
At Christ Church, we offer Freedom Ministry to equip believers to live the victorious and abundant life Christ came to give them. If you’re interested in learning more about Freedom Ministry, you can find more at www.christpeople.church/freedom.
