Founded in 1986, Christmas in Harrison is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to spreading the joy and spirit of the holiday season in Harrison, Maine. We host a beloved community event each year that brings people together to celebrate the season with holiday cheer, music, food, and festive activities. Our goal is to ensure that every local family and individual can experience the warmth and magic of Christmas at low to no cost. Through generous donations and the support of our volunteers, we are able to provide festivities to brighten the holidays for those who need it most. Christmas in Harrison is more than just an event; it's a celebration of the strength and spirit of our community, coming together to share in the true meaning of the season.
Brittany Bennett is a Nurse Practitioner by day and the President of Christmas in Harrison by night. She and her husband are proud to call the Friendly Village home for their family. Brittany’s life-long appreciation for the holiday season — its sense of tradition, the warmth it brings, and the focus on kindness and goodwill — has shaped her belief in the power of community. She cherishes the moments when people come together, share laughter, and spread joy. These values are what inspired her to become involved with Christmas in Harrison, where she can help foster a spirit of togetherness and generosity year-round.
When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll find Brittany starting a new house project, gardening, or working toward her dream of starting her very own Christmas tree farm! Her commitment to building a stronger, more connected community is at the heart of everything she does, and she is excited to continue contributing to Harrison’s growth and well-being through Christmas in Harrison.
Christmas time holds a special place in my heart, core memories of walking through the Maine woods to cut down our tree, driving around on Christmas Eve to look for Santa and his reindeer in the sky, my memeres mistletoe which I inherited when she passed, all the magic that I experienced as a child and now creating for my boys comes back at Christmas time.
Volunteering in my communities offers me the opportunity to give back, challenges me to learn new things, meet new people and teach my boys the importance of community involvement. It's a way to have your voice heard and be a part of the successes of the community. I am a busy Mom, Wife, REALTOR, & Business Owner active in my community and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Fun Fact: A bucket list item for me is to vacation in Hawaii!
Marilyn French Shaw, after retiring, moved to our cozy town full-time with her husband in 2021. Her husband has been coming to Harrison for over 35 years and they bought a house here in 2011. For fun, she enjoys boating, traveling, snowmobiling and working out.
Marilyn grew up in Foxborough, Massachusetts (go Patriots!), went to Boston College Law School and was a corporate lawyer in Boston for over 30 years. She has 2 adult step-children who also live in Harrison and 4 senior (but spunky) rescue dogs.
Besides Christmas, Marilyn’s passion is animals. She is a former board member of Sweet Paws Rescue in Massachusetts and supports many animal rescue organizations. She is also involved with event planning for König Corp., a charity bringing car enthusiasts together to raise money for organizations dedicated to mental health and victims of abuse or trauma.
Jaime Rolfe has been involved with Christmas in Harrison for a few years, and was pleased to join our Board of Directors in 2024!
Her desire to be an impact in her community and to bring people together is the driving force for her involvement. Her creative nature and hands-on approach stems from her experience in the hospitality and service industries, from real estate, to barbering, bartending and food service.
She looks forward to highlighting the many supportive businesses and sponsors in our community.
Tracey and her husband recently moved to the area after 30 years raising their family in Windham. They spend their winters here and their summers living aboard their boat cruising Casco Bay.
She joined Christmas in Harrison as the Marketing Coordinator in order to get more involved with her new community.
Tracey’s creativity coupled with her Marketing/Graphic Design background have led to an extensive array of entrepreneurial ventures including event planning, curating classes and workshops as a yoga/Yamuna® practitioner and most recently refreshing properties for use as vacation rentals.
She is no stranger to boards having served as the Vice President and then President of the Windham/Sacopee Valley Hockey Board for five years helping to build a school hockey program where there wasn't one. As this program was initially self-funded, she helped lead the many fundraising efforts for the team.
She's excited to be a part of such a fun and heartwarming tradition.
