FINAL & LAST CALL ON HEATHROW AIRSPACE CONSULTATION CLOSES MONDAY - 11.55PM 4 MARCH 2019
'This consultation gives you the chance to have your say on three key areas:
- Airspace change for an expanded Heathrow: the local factors we (Heathrow Airport) should consider in different geographic areas when designing future flight paths.
- Airspace change to make better use of our existing two runways: the local factors we should consider in different geographic areas when designing new flight paths for some arrivals on our existing two runways
- Future operations for an expanded Heathrow: how we will operate our three runways in the future, this includes managing noise; respite through runway and airspace alternation; directional preference and night flights.'
This link: https://afo.heathrowconsultation.com/consultation/ gives information on the consultation and how to respond.
The Chilterns is overflown by Heathrow operations and the stacking impacts on London Luton Airport operations, restricting the climb of departing aircraft until the 'stack' is cleared. We remain hopeful that improved technology and co-operation between departure and arrival airports could reduce aural and visual impact, especially for the AONB.
The Heathrow website advises the on-line consultation takes about 45 minutes to complete, although there is no obligation of course, to answer every question. So if you can find that amount of time before end of Monday, you can make your voice heard and get your thoughts and concerns identified.
LONDON LUTON AIRPORT
On your behalf the CCG participates in regular meetings with LLA management. It is important that we accurately reflect your concerns and views, so do please get in touch if you have particular issues which you would like us to raise. We are very pleased to have two aviation professionals who give freely of their time to the Steering Group. This is particularly useful for technical issues discussed at the LLA meetings.
Please do register your complaint on the LLA website WHENEVER you are disturbed by the airport's operations. This is particularly important if the disruption occurs between 23.30pm and 6.00am. CCG's policy is against scheduled night flights during those hours & it really does make a difference to our case, if complaints show exactly how often residents in the Chilterns are disturbed.
Lots of excellent media coverage and questions raised in Parliament, notably by Cheryl Gillan, MP for Chesham & Amersham, on rising costs, salaries of HS2 Ltd employees, cost benefit ratio, environmental concerns .......
Again, we remain hopeful that the Government will at last realise truly what a 'white elephant' this project is and act with common sense to cancel it soonest. We are very grateful to those of our supporters who continue to write letters to MPs, press and other media and who raise FOI questions on a wide range of issues.
