OVERVIEW OF PUBLIC MEETING HELD BY TRING TOWN COUNCIL ON 30 OCTOBER 2017.

As was manifestly clear at the Public Meeting held by Tring Town Council on 30 October, 2017, neither residents nor their elected representatives find that the proposals and options of the currently offered Local Plan deliver any of these objectives or wishes.

Overwhelmingly the view of the meeting was that the Local Plan lacked vision, appropriate thought and level of planning and that these proposals would change forever the character of the small market towns and villages in Dacorum and importantly, the irreplaceable green landscape which surrounds them, and which is threatened by all of the 3 options offered. Great concern was expressed over inadequate infrastructure to support such vastly increased number of houses, the affordability of the planned houses, and how and where to create local jobs. The documents express DBC's concerns over secondary school provision in Tring and Berkhamsted.

FURTHER PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD BY TRING TOWN COUNCIL ON 11 DECEMBER 2017

In view of the far-reaching consequences of these proposals, Tring Town Council will be holding a second Public Meeting on MONDAY 11 DECEMBER 2017 at Victoria Hall, Tring, starting at 7.30pm.

PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD BY BERKHAMSTED TOWN COUNCIL ON 22 NOVEMBER 2017

Berkhamsted Town Council is holding a Public Meeting on WEDNESDAY 22 NOVEMBER in the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted, starting at 7.30pm.

Do make every effort to attend one of these meetings. They are your opportunity to work with and support your local Councillors to achieve the best possible outcome for this part of the Chilterns, its precious Green Belt and AONB.

CHILTERN COUNTRYSIDE GROUP RESPONSE

The CCG will be responding to this Consultation from the perspective of our mission statement: 'Preserving the peace of the Chilterns'.

Do please let us have your thoughts and views so we can be aware of these as we consider the Group's response.

IF YOU HAVE TIME BEFORE THURSDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2017

The Department for Communities and Local Government's online Consultation: 'Planning for the right homes in the right places' is open until 23:45 ON THURSDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2017 so there is just still time to add your voice to protect our countryside.

GOVERNMENT IS STILL DELIBERATING ON RELEASE OF GREEN BELT FOR HOUSING

There is still time before the Autumn Budget on 22 NOVEMBER 2017 to express your concerns and views to Government through your MP. Recent media reports

indicate differing views within the Cabinet over release of Green Belt for housing. YOU could make a difference by sending a clear message to your MP of the importance of Green Belts and AONBs to the well-being and welfare of our society, that this should not be underestimated or diminished and that both should continue to have the highest statutory protection.

In the Chilterns, our Green Belt is intrinsically interwoven with our AONB. Loss of those green landscapes which form the setting of the AONB will diminish that too. Both are precious and once gone, can never be replaced or replicated by green spaces designed by developers.

So do please WRITE TO YOUR MP OR SPEAK TO THEM DIRECTLY AT THEIR LOCAL SURGERY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

CCG WEBSITE UPDATE

As many of you will have noticed, we have been experiencing problems, for reasons beyond our control, with providing access to our website. Therefore the Group's website (http://chilterncountrysidegroup.org) is currently under re-construction so please be patient! If you need help or information which you can't find on the website during this 'construction' period, then just phone or send us an email and we'll be happy to respond.

EMAIL ADDRESSES

We've also been experiencing a number of email failures, due to people changing email addresses or servers. When you change your email address, if you still wish to receive our occasional email newsletters, do please let us know so we can update our database. It would be a pity if you wanted to continue supporting our campaigns but missed out on important news simply because your email address is out of date. Many thanks.

We are always pleased to hear from our supporters, so do get in touch with any comments or questions - or indeed anything else relevant to our mission statement.

With best wishes to you all.
