IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM CHILTERN COUNTRYSIDE GROUP ON HS2 SELECT COMMITTEE JULY 2015
CHILTERN COUNTRYSIDE GROUP TO APPEAR BEFORE HS2 SELECT COMMITTEE ON MONDAY 20 JULY 2015
Most of you will be aware that the HS2 Select Committee is this week (beg 13 July) hearing petitions on tunnelling from the local authorities in the Chilterns, the Chiltern Conservation Board, the Chiltern Society, Parish Councils in Wendover and Halton, together with the Wendover action group.
This programme will continue next week with the National Trust, Chiltern Ridges HS2 Action Group, Conserve the Chilterns Countryside and the Residents' Environmental Protection Association.
We have now had confirmation that the Chiltern Countryside Group will appear shortly after 2.00pm on MONDAY 20 JULY.
- All sessions are open to the public but there is limited seating.
Timings of the full programme can be accessed via the HS2 Select Committee website:
You can also access uncorrected transcripts of oral evidence there and watch the proceedings on live, or archived TV, using this:
As is required, CCG has already exchanged exhibits with HS2 Ltd and we are currently finalising our presentation.
We will be asking for: ' A FULLY BORED TUNNEL THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE OF THE CHILTERNS AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY'.
We will NOT be specifically asking for any one of the tunnel options which are being presented to the Committee by the statutory authorities or other local groups.
The Committee's Chairman has specifically requested that petitioners avoid repetition and duplication of points. Therefore within our allotted 30 minutes, bearing that request in mind, we hope to make the best case possible for the protection of the whole of the AONB and to endorse key points made by previous petitioners. We will do our utmost to represent your voice faithfully and with integrity. Thank you all for your support for our mission statement and this particular campaign.
With good wishes to you all.
