FINAL AND LAST CALL FOR YOU TO RESPOND TO DACORUM BOROUGH COUNCIL CONSULTATION ON LOCAL PLAN 2020-38 EMERGING STRATEGY CLOSES 28.2.21.

Dear supporters,

When we last wrote, temperatures were icy and now despite a couple of hard early morning frosts this week, Spring is beginning. How welcome that is, this year, especially.

THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AND HAVE YOUR SAY IN THE DBC LOCAL PLAN 2020-38 EMERGING STRATEGY FOR GROWTH.

CONSULTATION CLOSES AT 11.59PM TOMORROW SUNDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2021.

Don't miss out, please do your very best to make a response by that deadline. Your views are important and will count.

Update on Motion put before DBC last Wednesday to delay the Consultation:

Cllr. Lara Pringle proposed the following motion at the full DBC meeting last Wednesday: 'to withdraw the consultation, revise the proposals and consult the public at a time and in a manner when the consultation can be fully inclusive, accessible and fair to all of our residents'.

Disappointingly, despite Cllr. Pringle's eloquent and heartfelt plea to Councillors to put aside Party politics at this time of national crisis and lockdown, the motion was defeated by Councillors in the Conservative majority who, claiming to be protectors of Green Belt and to be seeking residents' views, failed to appreciate the disenfranchisement of many residents and the inappropriate timing of a consultation on plans for destruction of some 850 hectares of Green Belt land in the Borough for development.

A few days before the meeting, CCG sent an Open Letter to all Borough Councillors requesting their support; this will be posted on the Group's website shortly.

Thank you if you contacted any of the Borough's Councillors asking them to support that motion. Even though it was defeated, your effort is not wasted as it reinforces the strength of negative feeling by the Borough's residents on this matter.

The Consultation will therefore close at 11.59pm on Sunday 28 February 2021.

CCG FINAL SUBMISSION TO DBC CONSULTATION NOW ON WEBSITE & HOW TO RESPOND

If you'd appreciate some help in making your response, here it is:

  • Please use any of the comments you wish from the CCG response to inform your own. We have included a useful summary of key points which address the questions of the Consultation. It's better if you can re-phrase the comment in your own words but if you're short of time, then do please feel free to reiterate the CCG observations, rather than not respond.

  • Please share this as widely as possible amongst your own contacts - the more people who object, the more likely the Plan might be thrown out.

  • If you are seriously running out of time: Use one of the on-line methods of responding and answer the questions with a statement that you endorse the response of the Chiltern Countryside Group. Sign, date the form and give your personal details.

  • Cllr. Sutton, Portfolio Holder, advised at the meeting, that: 'All responses will be treated equally', so there should be no problem with a simple endorsement of an organisation's submitted response, if that is your preferred option.

  • Here's how to respond:

  1. Go to the Consultation Portal at: https://consult.dacorum.gov.uk/kse & follow the instructions to the comments page

  2. Or go to: www.dacorum.gov.uk/localplan, download the response form and email to: responses@dacorum.gov.uk

  3. Or just email your response to the email address for option 2.

Thank you all so very much for whatever actions you can make.

Remember, together we bring power to the message.

Best wishes,

Steering Group
