Bragg School Clubs and Activities!

Bragg students have a wide range of interests, hobbies, and even curiosities. The many clubs and activities we offer here will help support and foster these interests and maybe even spark a new one! Take a look at the Clubs and their descriptions to see what may appeal to your child. Then, click on the link to the page (either in the header above or in the "more" section) and follow any steps listed to sign up!

American Sign Language Club- Open to all 5th grade students (no fee). The club's objective is to learn the basics of American Sign Language as a good foundation for continuing students' world language skills. Some topics include the alphabet, colors, greetings, common sayings, and animals. Art Club: Join our Art Club and unleash your creativity! Explore fun projects in a variety of media while learning new techniques in a relaxed, supportive environment. Whether you're a budding artist or just love to create, this club is the perfect place to express yourself and make new friends. Let your imagination run wild and bring your artistic ideas to life! Badminton Club - Come be a part of the Badminton Club at Bragg School.  You will learn the skills and strategies necessary to be successful in Badminton. You will also learn about important life skills including but not limited to: teamwork, communication, self-confidence, sportsmanship, etc.  Beginning in early December, any student in grades 3, 4, and 5 is welcome to join the Badminton Club with Mr. Schilp.  ALL skill levels are welcome! Chess Club:  Open to all 3rd - 5th grade level students who are interested in playing Chess. Students will learn the history and basic rules of chess. Club size is limited. The club will be held on Thursdays from 3:20- 4:20 PM. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP !

Community Service Club: Let’s get together and do the important work of community service.  Let’s help those in Chester and surrounding towns by taking part in several service projects throughout the year.  It feels good to give back and affect change!  As part of the Community Service Club, students will meet with Mrs. Bedkowski to plan, organize, and facilitate three service projects this year.  They will help in communicating needs to homerooms, contacting necessary community members, and affecting change in ways both big and small! Crochet Club: Would you like to learn how to crochet? Or, are you already an avid crocheter? Then this club is for you! In crochet club, we will learn the basic stitches of crochet, including slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet. We will also learn how to read basic crochet patterns to make a variety of projects. Beginners and experienced crocheters are welcome! Crochet club will meet. Helping Hands/Climate Club: The "Helping Hands" Club is for you if you enjoy helping others. The club is open to all students at Bragg Elementary School. Our mission together will be to do "good deeds" to help out those in our school, community, and world. We can welcome new students and make surprise cheer up baskets for other Bulldogs! We will encourage students to help those who are less fortunate and focus on spreading kindness in our community and beyond. Some of the past projects have included collecting socks for the homeless, writing greeting cards to our local police officers and heroes overseas, donating food to our local food pantry and many more rewarding activities. The club will be held on Thursday afternoons from 3:20pm-4:20pm. If you think your child may be interested in being a part of this club, have them join us to lend a "helping hand." Homework Club: Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are welcome to attend Homework Club with Mrs. Vindici and Mrs. Johnson. We will meet most Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on Tuesday, October 22nd through January 30th, from 3:20-4:15. We will be accepting 22 students into Homework Club on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students can use this time to complete homework, study for tests, or receive extra help as needed. They are expected to have the following available for each meeting: 

-a list of or access to their homework assignments

-their work and materials needed for their assignments 

-independent reading novels.

Kindness Club:  If you are in 4th or 5th grade and would like to help spread kindness in multiple ways around Bragg School, then sign up for Kindness Club! Club participants can look forward to group activities, engaging discussions, games, listening to music, making crafty projects, having lots of fun, and making new friends. We will be working on one large project to be displayed at Bragg School with an inspiring message for all to see. Kindness Club participants will quickly see how they can impact others, contribute to a positive school culture and climate, and feel good about themselves and what they are doing.  Click here for more information and to register! Makerspace Club: Do you enjoy creating and seeing your ideas come to life? Come be a part of Makerspace Club! Makerspaces are collaborative workshops where you can come to create, design, and explore with a variety of materials! In Makerspace Club, students will be invited to come and create with materials available in our makerspace stations! Click here for more information and to register!

Minecraft Club: Students will have the opportunity to explore the world of Minecraft while playing and creating together.  They will be able to mine, build and create structures, problem-solve, learn new techniques, and have the opportunity to teach their peers!  All Bragg students are welcome to join.  October - December; Wednesdays & Fridays, 7:35 AM - 8:30 AM; Advisor: Mr. CastroClick here for more information and to register! 


Newspaper Club - The goal of this club is to review writing skills and strategies, practice research skills, and cooperatively work together.  Students will participate in fun and engaging activities, working on such things as generating ideas, using interesting word choice, and incorporating figurative language.  The students will pick topics, conduct research and interviews, and finally write and create articles, poems, etc. All work will be published in a student-created newspaper by the end of the club session. The club will begin in October.  Newspaper Club takes place on SCHEDULED Mondays.  Pick up will be at 4:30.  Sign Up Deadline is October 18th.  See the Newspaper Club Flyer for more information.  Advisor: Mrs. Bedkowski  


Performing Arts (Drama) Club for 5th Grade: Open to all 5th grade students.  Auditions for placement & casting of major roles.  No acting experience necessary & no one turned away.  Experience the production of a musical, building scenery, selecting costumes and props, working on the stage & tech crew as well as singing, dancing & acting. Pickleball Club:  Come be a part of the  Pickleball Club at Bragg School. You will learn the skills and strategies necessary to be successful in Pickleball. Running Club (Spring): Build Confidence - Get Moving - Have Fun - RUN! *This club will be run outdoors, proper attire required. It is an afterschool club. Days TBD . Advisor: TBD


Safety Patrol: Open to 5th grade students only.  Safety Patrollers ensure the safety of fellow students at the end of the day as they are dismissed to buses. Interested students are asked to write a statement focusing on character education and responsibilities, making it clear why they would be a good choice to serve as a safety patroller.  Students serve for the year as Safety Patrol Officers for Bragg School.  (No Fee) During School hours; Advisor:Ms. Capan

Strategy Board Games Club:    Sign up for Strategy Board Game Club, where fun meets strategy! Dive into exciting games like Settlers of Catan, Blokus, Splendor, Azul, and 7 Wonders, and more, honing your critical thinking and teamwork skills while making new friends. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to board games, there's something for everyone! Let the games begin! Click here for more information and to register! Student Council:  Open to all grade levels to provide students the opportunity to participate in a student government body.  Two pairs of Student Council representatives are elected by each class to serve for the school year.  Students help facilitate school spirit days and service projects. (No fee) Scheduled Tuesday afternoons.  Students have already been elected by their classes at this time and parents informed.   Advisor: Ms.Capan 


Super Scientists Club:  Taking part in a science club is a wonderful way for children to engage with science from an early age. It gives them an introduction to scientific methods, helps them to develop a love of science and can give them the confidence to continue explore science in the years ahead. This club will take place from January - March, 2023. We will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 3:20-5:20. Super Scientists will have two cohorts. First five sessions are for 3rd grade only. Second five sessions are for fourth and fifth grade students. Advisor: Ms. Strauss.

Technology Club: Students will have the opportunity to explore different websites and apps to enhance their tech skills.  We will experiment with coding, animation, 3D building, gaming, and more.  All Bragg students are welcome to join.  Fall session - October through December; Winter session - January through March; Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:35 AM - 8:30 AM; Advisor: Mr. CastroClick here for more information and to register! 


TREP$: the exciting, before school program, is being offered to 5th Grade students who are interested in being young entrepreneurs. The children will learn how to prepare for, start and operate their own business. This extracurricular learning opportunity begins with before school workshops. In these workshops, students will learn and hone their entrepreneurship skills. Then their culminating activity will be selling their product(s) at the TREP$ MARKETPLACE on November  19th. This program takes place over an 8 week period, and is a unique and wonderful experience for ALL 5th Grade participants. Advisors: Ms Capan and Mr. Schilp



Unified Sports: This club is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports and games experiences, it was inspired by a simple principle: playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. Unified Recreation Sports Club involves all athletes participating together as teammates while playing sports, such as soccer, basketball, kickball, and much more. Athletes will be encouraged to celebrate and demonstrate their skills while having fun and forming new friendships. The club will meet on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoon, 3:20-4:15PM. Extended Music Program Offerings


Chamber Singers:   Extracurricular Chorus which provides additional opportunity for students interested in singing to develop their vocal and musical skills.  It is open to all 4th and 5th Grade students without audition.  Wednesdays, 7:45-8:30 AM,  October - June with additional rehearsals before concerts. ; Advisor: Mr. Gruver


Explorer Program - This program allows the children to discover which of the traditional band instruments they enjoy playing the most while providing the child with the opportunity to discover their strengths as very young musicians. For the first half of the program, students learn the recorder to gain foundational skills. The second half of the year is used to rotate through the following instruments every three weeks: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion (bell set).  This will assist them in taking an educated step forward in choosing an instrument to play the following year, should they choose to continue in the Symphonic Band. (No club fee, but there is a rental fee) Lessons are during the school day. This program has a mandatory deadline at the beginning of the school year, and cannot accept students mid-year.  Advisor: Mr. Jala 


Chester Band - The Chester Band is the main ensemble for all  4th and 5th band students who are playing a new instrument or are new to band this year.   The Chester Band is our introductory level large ensemble, where students learn basic ensemble skills and perform introductory level band repertoire. This ensemble correlates with pullout lesson instruction during the school day. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays, 7:45 – 8:30; Advisor: Mr. Jala


Bulldog Band: The Bulldog Band is the main ensemble for fifth grade students who are studying the same instrument at Bragg for a second yearStudents begin to explore more comprehensive ensemble skills, and perform more challenging music.  Students gain suitable skills in preparation for middle school. This rehearsal correlates with in school pullout lessons. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays,  7:45 – 8:30; Advisor: Mr. Jala
