SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY - by Jonathan Joubert
Client: MARK “KIDWOK” BRITTEN, CELEBRITY VOICE ACTOR - CREATING THE COMIC CON HOST ROLE
When working with Mark Britten, I was able to direct him in using time efficiently for modern productions. He wanted to provide a complete package for 8 large scale Comic Con events as the Celebrity Host. I assisted him in strategizing the implementation of the goals for each event, including interviewing and rapidly editing and publishing a series of videos of celebrities, sponsors, and attendees.
We released a minimum of 10 fully produced short form and long form videos throughout each event day to assure attendees were able to map out important locations and times to attend panels and events, see highlights, and hear candid reactions from attendees. The goal was to fill all social media threads with relevant information and attendees having a great time. This strategy proved massively successful with a large social media reach that forcing inevitable complaints that landed as comments during their event publicly on their social media pages to be overshadowed by attendees and celebrities enjoying the event, while the general manager could address any PR issues before they could damage perception (long lines, cancellations, unexpected expenses, etc).

When I began working with Copperhead Road Bar, I was asked to grow their reach and brand awareness. By utilizing their existing social media following and studying their analytics, I was able to reach their core demographic by concentrating on the short-form videos featuring clients who had significant social media outreach, and capitalized on the modern consumer’s desire to be seen on social media. By highlighting those dancers who were the most proficient, I was able to place event notifications within the short- form videos
as well as hashtags and prompts to reach those who would not otherwise visit the page, or view standard still notifications. This practice led to returning customers vying for attention and to be seen on the social media platforms with numerous clients stating they had seen a particular video that influenced their decision to come to an event.
My strategy for social media growth was based on current trends and behaviors of particular client demographics. The younger market uses social media, with a vast majority of them consuming video. My goal was to create social media followers who would return to pages, see themselves, and have ads for upcoming events hidden within those videos as well as ads during our followers’ prime viewing times. I noticed that videos will play when scrolling past them on particular social media platforms, and people naturally gravitate
towards distractions in their environment, so my goal was to create videos which would begin playing with ads as a part of the video without being the focus of the video. This does not mean we completely neglected standard advertisement, but we used the shorts to drive people to the pages where they could find playlists of guests, special events, a variety of dances, and special menu items and promotions. By doing this I was able to grow the business page by making it customer focused, which pulled in return clients and created awareness of upcoming events throughout the month.
