About Chemeketa Gmail

Chemeketa uses Gmail as our official college email system. Every student and employee at Chemeketa are assigned a college email account.

Faculty are expected to check their employee email accounts regularly. This email account is where you will receive time-sensitive and important communications from the College and from students.


Activate your Account

If you have not done so already, contact the Information Technology Help Center at 503.399.7899 during college business hours to setup and activate your employee email account.

IT Help Center

Employees can access the IT Help Desk in person in Bldg. 9, Rm. 128 on the Salem Campus or by phone at 503.399.7899.

Email Expectations and Guidelines

Using your Chemeketa email is essential to your role as a faculty member. It is a condition of hire that you maintain and regularly use your email account for College-related communication.

Every student at Chemeketa is provided a college email account and is advised to use it as a primary mode of communicating with their instructors. Nevertheless, some students forward their Chemeketa email to a personal address and attempt to communicate through their non-Chemeketa account. Do not respond to a student request from a personal email account outside of the Chemeketa system. Instead, respond to their request by letting them know that you will be sending the information to their username@my.chemeketa.edu e-mail.

DO NOT

  • Forward your Chemeketa email to another email account.

  • Send emails to students from your personal email account.

  • Share confidential information to students’ personal email accounts.

DO

  • Respond to students from your Chemeketa email to their Chemeketa email.

  • Include a signature block in all of your emails.

  • Reply to student and/or college emails within 48 hours.

  • Set an "Out of Office" automatic email reply when you are away.

Your Employee & Student Email

Your employee email account is where you will receive official communications from the college and from students.

You also receive a student email account in addition to your employee email account. Your student email account is used when you register for classes as a student at the college.

Faculty can forward their student email to their employee account as a convenience.

Friendly Email Address

Employees have a "friendly email address" they can use to share with others. All email will be sent to the same account inbox.

  • first.last@chemeketa.edu

DO NOT use your friendly email address to login to Gmail.

How To Login

  • Access at: gmail.com

  • Enter your Employee Email Address and Gmail password

Login to Chemeketa Gmail

  • username@chemeketa.edu - use this address to login to Gmail

Do not use your friendly email address to login to Gmail. Use your employee email address when prompted.

Examples:

    • Correct: username@chemeketa.edu

    • Incorrect: first.last@chemeketa.edu

    • Incorrect: username@my.chemeketa.edu
