Chris Claysmith

Instructor of Astronomy and Physics at Chemeketa Community College

Chris Claysmith, M.A. in Astronomy, Boston University

In graduate school, I had two main areas of study. I studied the magnetic field of the sun as a heliophysicist as well as early star formation in molecular clouds as a radio astronomer. I discovered my passion for teaching by showing undergraduate students at BU the basics of physics and observing techniques on the telescopes that were on the rooftops of the CAS building in Boston.

I teach lower level physics classes and a variety of astronomy class. My main focus is on applied physics for electronics and drafting students taking PH121 and PH122 and on the astronomy courses PH207, PH208, and PH 209 which cover planets, stars, and cosmology, respectively.
