CSD Elementary Reading Series Selection

On Tuesday, May 19, the Office of Education presented options for a new elementary reading series. CSD needs a new primary English language arts resource to replace Storytown, which the district purchased in 2009. Storytown has been discontinued in print and electronic versions. E-resources are critical for fall 2020 and beyond.

A committee of teachers and administrators has narrowed the field to four finalists: Fountas and Pinnell Classroom, intoReading, myView Literacy, and Wonders. All elementary teachers and administrators have received a survey on the finalists' resources to share their feedback with the committee. A final decision on the Reading Program will be determined no later than June 1, 2020. See information for each below.

Please send feedback to readingseriescomments@cheltenham.org.

  • Family/ Student Support Website>
We have a dedicated parent/ student support website to help guide parents and their children through the Realize website. This resource has been vital during the transition to virtual learning and can help your parents become more comfortable with Realize. Some parents may be taking advantage of this website now for the enVision2.0 Math program.

  • At-Home Support Resources>
Due to the sudden school closures and switch to virtual learning, we put together a website that offers free at-home support resources for parents. These resources include downloadable projects, novels, grammar packets, handwriting practice, etc. Your community can take advantage of these materials now.
