The Lake Chelan School District Board Policy 4300 was adopted on January, 26th, 2021. This policy complies with the Keep Washington Working Act passed by the Washington State Legislature.

Immigration Enforcement on School Campuses

Washington public schools initiating engagement with federal immigration authorities for the purpose of sharing student information is inconsistent with state and federal constitutional mandates to serve every student. The Attorney General's model policies direct that school district policies prohibit participation or aid immigration enforcement with regard to enforcement activity against students and their families, staff, and volunteers. 

If anyone attempts to engage in immigration enforcement on or near school grounds, school staff shall immediately alert and direct the person to the school principal or authorized designee. School staff shall request that any person desiring to communicate with a student, enter school grounds, or conduct an arrest first produce a valid a valid court order or a judicial warrant. The principal will forward the request to the district superintendent and/or legal counsel who shall review the court order or judicial warrant for signature by a judge and validity. Additionally, schools shall not permit access to information, records, or areas beyond that specified in the court order, judicial warrant, or other legal requirement. 

Reforzamiento de Inmigración en los Campus Escolares

Si las escuelas públicas de Washington iniciaran contacto con las autoridades federales de inmigración con el fin de compartir información sobre los estudiantes seria inconsistente con los mandatos constitucionales estatales y federales de apoyar a todos los estudiantes. Las políticas modelo del Procurador General establecen que las políticas de los distritos escolares prohíben la participación o la ayuda del reforzamiento de inmigración en relación con las actividades del reforzamiento contra los estudiantes y sus familias, el personal y los voluntarios.

Si alguien intenta realizar una acción de reforzamiento de inmigración en terrenos escolares o cerca de ellos, el personal escolar deberá alertar inmediatamente y dirigir la persona al director de la escuela o a la persona designada autorizada. El personal escolar deberá solicitar que cualquier persona que desee comunicarse con un estudiante, entrar en terrenos escolares o realizar un arresto presente primero una orden judicial válida. El director enviará la solicitud al superintendente del distrito y/o al asesor legal, quienes revisarán el mandato judicial o la orden judicial para verificar su validez y la firma de un juez. Además, las escuelas no permitirán el acceso a información, registros o áreas más allá de lo especificado en el mandato judicial, la orden judicial u otro requisito legal.

Immigrant Safety Plan for Children and Youth / Plan de Seguridad Inmigrante Para Niños y Jóvenes

The Immigrant Safety Plan for Children and Youth is a collective community resource to help parents plan for the care of their child(ren) (with or without status) in the event that a parent is unable to care for their child, particularly if the parent is detained or deported.

El Plan de Seguridad Inmigrante Para Niños y Jóvenes es un recurso comunitario colectivo para ayudar a los padres a planificar el cuidado de sus hijos (con o sin estatus) en caso de que un padre no pueda cuidar a su hijo, particularmente si el padre es detenido o deportado.

Intention of Parents for Care of a Minor Child / Intención de los Padres Para el Cuidado de un/a Hijo/a Menor 

The Intention of Parents for Care of Minor Child explains the parents’ wishes for the care of their child(ren) in the event they are unavailable.

La Intención de los Padres Para el Cuidado de un/a Hijo/a Menor explica los deseos de los padres sobre el cuidado de su(s) hijo(s) en caso de que no estén disponibles.

Durable Power or Attorney for Parental Powers / Poder Notarial Duradero Para la Patria Potestad

The Durable Power of Attorney for Parental Powers gives the caregiver/agent very temporary legal rights (for example, medical, educational and travel) if your child(ren) is placed with them. This should give the caregiver/agent the same powers that a parent has to make decisions on behalf of the child(ren), unless there are limits on the powers given to them.

The Durable Power of Attorney for Parental Powers is effective from the time that the parent(s) sign the documents for up to 24 months.

El Poder Notarial Duradero Para la Patria Potestad otorga al cuidador/agente derechos legales muy temporales (por ejemplo, derechos médicos, educativos y de viaje) si su(s) hijo(s) es(son) asignado(s) a su cuidado. Esto debería otorgarle al cuidador/agente los mismos poderes que tiene un padre para tomar decisiones en nombre de su(s) hijo(s), a menos que existan límites en los poderes que se le otorgan.

El Poder Notarial Duradero Para la Patria Potestad entra en vigencia desde el momento en que el padre o los padres firman los documentos y dura hasta 24 meses.
