Hi, Welcome to the Product team page! This page will take you through some of our teams and introduce their leaders. Good luck in your process!
I lead Product operations and am Chief of Staff to the CPO. I joined Checkout.com because its a high growth scale-up, with good product craft and people with similar values of how to build and win. The leaders have immense experience in payments, are diverse and care about their teams. Product development is consumer centric, data-driven, fast paced, with high autonomy. I'm excited to be part of a business with solid fundamentals, pursuing high growth, and which builds products that power the biggest Enterprise companies of the world.
OUR TEAM LEADERSHIP
The Core Networks pillar is made up of our Card Processing and Alternative Payments Processing teams.
Together we are continuously building, enhancing, and launching the payment “rails” (VISA, Mastercard, Paypal, Klarna, and many more!) that serve Checkout’s customers. Every one of the millions of transactions Checkout processes rely on us, so we proudly own some of the highest traffic and most business critical systems that power our business. We are on a mission to make them faster, more resilient, and more cost effective; all while constantly adding new features and new partner integrations.
Financial Infrastructure pillar’s mission is to deliver dedicated tools that our Finance and Treasury departments need to operate the company to the high standards expected of a Financial Services institution, ensuring that our financial risks are managed, that we satisfy our regulatory obligations, and that we provide the required financial controls and transparency to our merchants, shareholders and regulators.
We ingest events from multiple domains, including internal Checkout.com domains and from external parties such as banks and card schemes, we use this data to drive a variety of financial reports and tools. We always focus on solving complex problems with simple solutions.
Merchant Services is the largest engineering and product pillar at Checkout.com. It is responsible for the end-to-end experience that our merchants and customers have during the lifecycle of a payment. It is composed of four sub-pillars/groups:
Payment Processing oversees some of Checkout's most critical and influential products. The focus is on constructing world-class APIs to handle the payment processing flow, orchestrating and determining payment outcomes at Checkout.com. It strives to offer the most complete, easy-to-integrate, maintainable, and transparent APIs in the industry. This group's responsibility is to meet 99.999% uptime while keeping latency as low as possible.
Enhanced Payments focuses on delivering value-added services that complement our core payments offerings. This includes teams managing our 3DS solution, Disputes, Network Tokens, and many more. It aims to maintain and enhance our margins while providing modular, standalone products to our customers.
Interfaces manages the UX and client-side touch-points for merchants and payees. Its mission is to deliver solutions that simplify integration, configuration, compliance, and daily business management for all customers.
Payment Infrastructure builds critical platform products that enable other teams to move faster. They are responsible for our Edge Gateway offering, webhooks and notifications, as well as our secure card and GDPR storage and the reusable aspects of our reporting and analytics.
In Operations and Compliance Services (OCS) we build cloud-based software that ensures Checkout.com only serves legitimate businesses; and can serve those businesses well. We're the technology safety net that prevents our payments platform from being used in the service of financial crimes or money laundering.
We have a broad set of responsibilities that covers much of Checkout.com's back office and enables us to provide a superior service for each merchant throughout their journey with us. This starts with merchant onboarding, risk assessment and configuration, but continues as we support merchant care, change requests and product upsells, and continually adapting the way we manage merchant data in line with changing global regulations and the needs of our partner schemes, such as Visa or Mastercard.
As money moves through Checkout's systems we screen transactions in real-time to prevent money movement to sanctioned parties or to detect activity that might indicate money laundering. We build self service tools for merchants, event based systems to drive automation and tooling to meet our merchant's needs effectively.
We interact with many parts of the business to solve complex problems in a collaborative and iterative way; continually building, shipping, measuring and learning to make Checkout.com a little bit better every day.
In the Payment Performance pillar, we have a singular purpose which is to increase merchant revenue. In order to achieve this, we need to maximise conversion rates and minimise fraud rates - by leveraging ML and smart rules as well as an experiment-driven approach to ensure gradual improvements. You will be working with MLEs, back-end engineers, front-end engineers and data scientists in order to innovate and keep Checkout as a best-in-class provider.
The mix of requirements between low latency, high uptime and machine learning makes for a good engineering challenge that is clearly measurable. We utilise the best technologies available to make the right compromise between the best choice and the fastest choice.
