I love teaching Social Studies because it gives me an outlet for my creativity as well as my life outside of school of volunteering and service to the community. Teaching middle school children is sometimes challenging but it's very rewarding. Middle school children have vivid imaginations and are open-minded. I love spending my days with them.
I began my tenure in Cherry Hill Schools at Johnson School in 1999 as a fifth-grade teacher. I took a little time off in 2006 to be with my kids and returned to teach at Beck Middle School in 2008. I briefly taught seventh grade but, mostly, have been a sixth grade teacher. I hold a B.A. in History and Political Science and M.Ed. in Education K-8.
I often reference my own children in my class. My daughter Hannah, age 21, a computer science major, and my son Benjamin, age 19, a nursing major, are the sunshine of my life. Outside of worklife, I enjoy exercising, live music, cooking, reading, spending time with my friends and family and traveling.
