What We Do

Our Mission:

The mission of our Phillips Middle School is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all students are treated equitably and are engaged in rich and rigorous curricular study that will enable them to acquire and develop the necessary creative and critical thinking skills for rewarding and productive lives in the increasingly global and technological 21st century.

Our Roles:

  • Provide individual and group counseling
  • Develop and implement guidance curriculum aligned with the National & State Standards Monitor students’ academic progress
  • Consult in the development of student schedules
  • Facilitate guidance meetings with academic teams
  • Attend parent/teacher meetings
  • Coordinate homebound services for students with extended illness Participate in IEP and 504 meetings
  • Assist and act on the Response to Intervention team
  • Communicate with parents
  • Provide mediations for students to resolve conflict
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, specialists and parents to meet student needs
  • Provide academic and personal counseling
  • Provide resources and coordinate orientation for students new to the school
  • Assist in fifth grade and eighth grade transitions
  • Provide crisis intervention
  • Provide Peer Mediation training
